I had a minor relapse over the weekend, but continue to persevere. Had myself a Morningstar Grillers Prime faux-burger last night for dinner and have to say, not too bad. I like the texture more than I did the Boca Burgers, though my husband, amazingly enough, likes the Boca Burger. Now if only I can get my kids to try one or the other. I had a soy latte this morning from Starbucks and while it didn't taste bad, man did it rack up a lot of points. I'll have to try making my own with light soy milk next time. Just didn't want to go through all the trouble of making one and find out it really sucked. We will see. I also tried their "Perfect Oatmeal." Have to say if that's perfection, it leaves a lot to be desired. It's basically instant oatmeal that they give you some toppings for. While I like that they give you some nuts and dried fruit to put on top, it really doesn't equal the $2.50 (approx.) that you pay for it. I'll stick with my own instant oatmeal and do with it what I will.
Onto the fitness. I used the Turbo Jam yesterday and Monday night (20 minute workout yesterday, 40 minute cardio party on Sunday). I'm pleasantly sore. Sounds bad, but at least it feels like I did something. I also managed to give in to my inner shopper and bought some Jump Snap handles. What is it you ask? It's basically a ropeless jump rope. Why bother? Why not just buy a regular jump rope and lose the rope? Well, I am a sucker for "innovative" products and this one offered a way to jump rope (it says that it's an excellent cardio workout) without the hassle and danger of using a rope. And believe me, I could be dangerous inside the house with a rope. It also says it has a counter for amount of revolutions, jumping time and calories burned. I figure, why not. We'll see how up I feel when I actually get the product. I promise a no-holds-barred review.
I've been weighing myself every morning before the shower and the weight hasn't budged since Sunday. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing or if I'm just stressing myself out unnecessarily. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Day 7
First weekly weigh in and I have lost 5.8 pounds. That feels pretty good. I need to exercise more. That is to say, at all. I really haven't done a whole lot this week and I'm sure if I step up the sweat I may lose some weight. Ate a Morningstar Veggie Sausage Patty with Egg Beaters Cheese and Chive and a Thomas English Muffin Light Multigrain and I wasn't too bad. Didn't mean that I didn't still want to eat a big ol' breakfast of eggs, bacon, biscuits and grits, but after I ate it, I wasn't hungry. Guess I should see that as an improvement.
I did go overboard yesterday eating a double bacon cheeseburger at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Of course, I ate some fries too, but didn't eat the 15 pounds that they put in the bag. Lots o' fried I tell ya. I'm going to try to incorporate more fruits and veggies into every day too. Hope it helps.
More to come.

Day 5
Had a minor setback yesterday, ate two slices of pepperoni pizza and two pieces of Crazy Bread. Well, it's not that bad. I'll just get back on the horse today. Lean Cuisine, yogurt and broccoli slaw for lunch (recipe courtesy of HungryGirl). I'm hoping to get some exercise in tonight as well, since it's the weekend and don't have to worry about getting up early tomorrow for work. Good times. I think I may try to get some fish tonight. The hubby and oldest child love salmon. I am personally not a fan. Too fishy in my opinion, even though I know it's the end all good fish right now. Omega-3s and all. Anyone have any suggestions for a good fish that doesn't taste fishy?
Had me a Morningstar veggie sausage patty this morning with some Egg Beaters on Nature's Own Light Honey Wheat toast. Didn't taste too bad. Probably would taste better if I wasn't trying to eat it whilst driving down the interstate, but beggars can't be choosers right? I'll try this again this weekend when I have time to actually sit down and eat breakfast and let you know if I'm still feeling the love for faux sausage.

Day 4
So sore today. I worked out on the elliptical machine. That is to say that I actually used it for something other than hanging my clothes on it. Like a fool I did not stretch well afterward as I was just so grateful to be done. Now I'm paying for my foolishness. My legs hurt all night, and thus, I did not sleep well. I'm not exactly a happy camper today, but I'll make it. I plan on purchasing the Jillian Michaels 30-day Shred workout as it has received nothing but rave reviews, as well as a heart rate monitor. Why? Because everyone says that's the only true way to monitor how hard you're working, how many calories you're burning and if you're doing the most to burn fat. I'm down with that. Plus I'd rather put in my calories burned for activity points than rely on what they have in the WW system. Just seems a bit wonky in that respect. As soon as some of my rewards points certificates come in, to Amazon I will go.
I've been eating Lean Cuisine meals every day this week for lunch. In and of itself, that's pretty amazing for the dining out queen. Well, at least at lunch. I really enjoyed the Chicken Carbonara. It was pretty tasty plus it had bacon, bacon!, and pasta in it. Love that! I figure, I'm not only making sure I'm eating better, but I'm spending less. A $2 meal versus a $7-$10 meal depending on where I ate. That's got to be good right? That's not to say I won't visit my favorite hangout (Welcome to Moe's!) every once in a while; I just won't be doing it multiple times a week.
I signed up for the Hungry Girl newsletters. If you don't know who she is, she is a WW follower's go to source for all things tasty. In her latest edition she mentions VitaTops which are apparently muffin tops that are only 100 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and 6 grams of fiber. Pretty amazing. If they taste even halfway decent, I may have to buy a case or two. They're only 1 WW point for a chocolate muffin top. Yum. Think I may conduct a recon mission to my local Publix to see if they have them in stock because I'd rather try it out first to find out if it totally sucks before I invest $30 for a box from the company. Just sayin. So far Hungry Girl has not steered me wrong so I'll trust in her. :)
Tonight I try Meatless burger. Wish me luck!

Day 2
Got through the first day and it really wasn't too bad. The good thing about the WW plan is that you can have real food which is a definite must for me. I actually ate steak last night. It was much smaller than what I usually eat, but it was still steak. And they have these ice cream sandwiches made by Skinny Cow which taste good. Not diet food good, real good. The Strawberry Shortcake ones are tasty and only a couple of points so I get to eat dessert too.
I walked in place for 30 minutes last night as activity. I know that this is probably not what they had in mind for your required activity but figured I better start slow or I'll get sore and unmotivated. I'm contemplating buying the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred which is getting rave reviews from about everyone. Heard it was a 20 minute workout (love that it's not too long) and it really kicks your butt. Good times.
On a lighter note, I have found my body image inspiration. Will I attain this level of physical perfection? Probably not, but it's good to hope. Her name is Nora Tobin and apparently she's a beach volleyball player. I guess it is up for debate on whether she should be considered pro or not since she hasn't really played but whatever the case may be she has become the poster child for the FRS Energy product. Literally. She's in their ads and I can see why. Crazy awesome abs. I can only imagine the number of crunches and everything else she must do. Whatever it is, it's definitely working. :) You are my idol and what I strive to achieve. You go girl!
Speaking of FRS Energy, I got suckered into buying the stuff. I blame Nora. Well, I got an introductory package which cost way more than I care to admit. The package came with the concentrate, a box of powdered mix in individual packets (think Crystal Light-style drink tubes) and a bag of vitamin chews (Blueberry Pomegranate). The concentrate was eh. It tasted like watered down tang but had that nifty vitamin aftertaste. Bleh. The upside was that it's only 10 calories. Now the chews are much better. They advise you to chew 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon for an energy boost. They still have a slight vitaminy taste but not too bad. They are a bit on the sweet side, but are much easier to take than the drink, at least in my opinion. The down side is that they are 40 calories for the 2 chews but you do get a lot of vitamins with them. The worst so far has been the powdered drink mix. I tried mixing that in a half-liter bottle of water. That was a mistake. The stuff did not dissolve, looked like some science experiment gone wrong and tasted pretty nasty. No one likes having chunks of powder in their drink. Bleh. Won't be doing that again. I think I will keep on with the chews though. We'll see if I'll be ordering them again or not. Beware of the auto-ship on this though because they immediately set you up for it with your order. To be fair, they do allow you to go in and change it if you want, but don't forget to do this if you don't want to be getting monthly shipments.

Fresh Start for the New Year
So I'm trying to lose weight...again. I decided to use Weight Watchers Online...again. I tried it a couple of years ago since my cousin was on regular Weight Watchers and lost an amazing amount of weight. I don't have as much to lose as she did but I certainly need to lose a good chunk.
A little background on me. I'm a married, full-time working mother of two who has a schedule similar to what I'm sure many moms have out there. I grew up pretty active and didn't ever really worry about my weight. While never "skinny" I didn't ever consider myself fat either. Somewhere in the middle. I joined the army after a couple years in community college and spent six years serving my country, getting married and having my oldest daughter while in. That was when the first bit of weight stuck. I gained 40 pounds when pregnant and only managed to lose about 20 of it. After leaving the Army, I gained another 40 pounds while pregnant with my second and only lost about 20 of that. If you haven't been keeping score, that's 40 pounds to lose. I probably could have lost a good 10 to 20 before that anyway, if I'm completely honest. So my total goal is to lose 50 pounds. A nice round number, no pun intended.
So baby steps on this long journey. I have brought my lunch today instead of relying on whatever I can buy at the fast food joints, drinking water instead of Coke and planning on my meals ahead of time. I'm also hoping to exercise some after work, but we'll see how motivated I feel after the day finishes up.
So this is the first day for the rest of my life. Yeah.
